Welcome to my supermarket homestead

Hey there. I am Sophie. I make stuff. I believe that our homes should be the sites of production, not consumption; that by making the things we need, be it food, cleaning supplies or clothing, we claim and reclaim our heritage and our birthright as creators. We grow into our full selves as competent, creative and powerful human beings. We learn what we can do, as individuals and as communities. We connect with our neighbours and with the places that we live.

This blog will be a space where I share the stuff I make, from simple, accessible ingredients and materials. It will also be a space where I share my thoughts, my reasons for making and for living the way that I do. It’s my hope that this space will become a community where makers can share and learn, together. I am a knitter, baker, cook, preserver, fermenter and novice gardener. I want to learn more about sewing, quilting, and simple construction. I hope you will join me.

  1. Love it, Sophie! I am always so intrigued when I read your IGposts, so it will be nice to have a space to be able to more in depth of stuff.

  2. Lovely first post. I have the same ethos but in the last few years life has gotten away from me. Finding my way back now.
